Smallfield Cricket Club’s Lottery
Smallfield Cricket Club runs its’ own lottery in association with the Weather Lottery
We started the lottery about three or so ago to raise funds for specific requirements. We decided that funds raised through this lottery would be spent on largely capital expenditure for club development and the more expensive machinery or other equipment we required and not the club’s day to day running expenses.
In the first year the income from the lottery went towards the acquisition of our ride-on tandem roller. This year, with the help of our lottery, we are aiming to provide an artificial wicket alongside our square for practice and for playing some friendly (mainly 20/20) games to alleviate the pressure on the grass pitches. When we have achieved this goal we will then consider the next project for the lottery to support. Whilst we know the direction we want to be heading our requirements for these more expensive items may change from year to year. For example this year we didn’t know that we would have our machinery stolen. This may ultimately mean we have to consider acquiring a more robust store shed and who knows what else may be required in the future that we don’t know about.
Playing the lottery is simplicity itself and rather than trying to explain it in detail here it is far easier to link to the Weather Lottery site itself for the full details.
Basically there are two lotteries the Lightning and the Sunshine. We operate the Sunshine version, which has one prize draw a week. The cost of one line is £1. The prizes are won as follows:
Three correct numbers £2
Four correct £20
Five correct £200
Six correct £25,000
Roughly speaking the stake money is divided thus, one third comes back to the club, one third to administration, advertising and literature and one third to the prize fund.
Why not give it a go and help us develop our club for the benefit of our local community in providing a valued sporting facility? Who knows you could find yourself 10 grand better off! As the old saying goes ‘you’ve got to be in it to win it’!! Good Luck!!
